Sylvia Kwon (she/her) is a Senior Research Associate with WestEd’s Assessment for Learning team and the Region 15 Comprehensive Center at WestEd. She guides and supports a range of research, technical assistance, and capacity-building projects aimed at facilitating equitable education outcomes for all students.
She has expertise in qualitative research, data visualization, and program evaluation. She has taught Ethnic Studies in higher education institutions and collaborated with state and local education agencies on equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
Prior to joining WestEd, Kwon worked as a research and assessment analyst at University of California (UC) Davis and as an evaluation specialist at UC Davis Health. She also served as a leadership development, research, and evaluation coordinator for a nonprofit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Kwon received a BA in English from Oberlin College and an MA in curriculum development from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She holds a PhD in educational foundations and policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
