California Standards Implementation: Research Findings

Cover Survey Results in Brief: WestEd Presentation to the California State Board of Education (March 2016)

Educators across California are implementing new state standards aligned with the Common Core — how are things progressing?

The California State Board of Education partnered recently with WestEd to coordinate a statewide survey of California teachers, principals, and district leaders to gather perceptions about current implementation of the state’s English language arts and mathematics standards.

This brief, presented to the Board by WestEd’s Reino Makkonen and Robert Sheffield, gathers the findings from that survey alongside the lessons WestEd has learned across the agency’s other research and technical assistance initiatives underway on this topic.
