Anthony Petrosino, Director of the WestEd Justice & Prevention Research Center, has been named to a National Technical Working Group for the evaluation of education-based prevention programs for at-risk youth.

The American Institutes for Research and James Bell Associates were recently funded to conduct an evaluation of the U.S. Department of Education’s Title I, Part D Programs, also known as The Prevention and Intervention Programs for Children and Youth Who Are Neglected, Delinquent or At Risk.

Petrosino was one of five persons approved by the U.S. Department of Education to serve on the Technical Working Group for the evaluation study.

The Technical Working Group comprises research, policy, and practice experts in the area of prevention programs for at-risk youth. Members will meet periodically to review the study’s progress, troubleshoot difficulties, and offer advice.

“I am honored to serve in this capacity on such an important federally funded study,” says Petrosino, who has nearly 30 years of experience collaborating on research and evaluation studies, particularly in areas such as violence prevention, school safety, juvenile and criminal justice systems, and public health.
