Researchers from WestEd and the American Institutes for Research will present a series of papers on urban gun violence at the annual meeting for the American Society of Criminology (ASC). Washington, D.C., November 18-21, 2015

The “Understanding Gun Violence in Urban Communities” panel will address current evidence and strategies to prevent and reduce gun violence, new evaluation evidence of the impact and economic benefits of one statewide urban youth gun violence reduction initiative, and the relationship among policy, community, police, and violence in high-risk urban environments. Implications for research and policy will be discussed.

Anthony Petrosino and Trevor Fronius, both Senior Research Associates at WestEd, will serve among the panelists. Staff from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention will chair the panel.

The Politics of Crime & Justice is the theme of this year’s meeting. Visit the ASC annual meeting web page for information on the ASC meeting and schedule.
