CenterView: Progress At Risk
Description
Education services for students and teachers, once connected to state requirements, are now subject to local discretion and collective bargaining.
This issue of CenterView, produced by the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning at WestEd, addresses the critical issues of equity and teaching quality. It asks educators and policymakers to carefully monitor the impact of the budget cuts on California’s longstanding education goals of addressing education inequity, attracting and retaining effective teachers, and strengthening teaching quality through professional development.
Ensuring both equity and quality involves developing a comprehensive data system to afford policymakers, educators, parents, and the public the information they need to monitor continuous improvements in teaching and learning for all students.
