Doing What Works: Research-Based Practices for K-6 Mathematics
Description
This digital portfolio contains the materials needed to conduct four one-to-three-hour professional development sessions on research-based practices for K-6 mathematics.
Module 1 is an introduction to Doing What Works (DWW) and the series of DWW mathematics topics for elementary schools.
Module 2 is a two-part professional development session on K–6 mathematics with a focus on teaching fractions.
Module 3 is a two-part professional development session on teaching mathematics problem solving and encouraging persistence.
Module 4 is a two-part professional development session on assessment and intervention in elementary mathematics.
All of the materials—including the handouts, PowerPoint presentation, multimedia and other documents—are contained in one PDF Portfolio.
Each session includes time for participants to view a variety of media pieces from DWW, review handouts, apply tools, and discuss the Common Core State Standards Mathematical Practices.
