WestEd will be present at the 2017 California Educational Research Association (CERA) 96th Annual Conference, held on November 29 through December 1, 2017, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California.

The theme of the 2017 conference is Improving Education through Partnership: Sharing Ideas, Connecting Systems, and Creating Solutions.

Robert Linquanti, Project Director and Senior Researcher with the California Comprehensive Center and the Comprehensive School Assistance Program at WestEd, will deliver the keynote address, “Fostering Systemic Capacity and Coherence for Deeper Learning: English Learners as a Leading Indicator.”

Linquanti’s talk will focus on what educators have learned about English language learners’ (ELLs) linguistic and academic development, and how districts can use new standards and assessment and internal accountability approaches to support deeper teaching and learning for ELLs.
