WestEd’s Jodi Davenport has been invited to serve as Co-Chair of the 2018 Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Principal Investigators meeting January 9-10 in Arlington, VA.

The annual IES Principal Investigators meeting is designed to foster discussion and renew or build connections among the Principal Investigators and training fellows supported by IES. The responsibilities of a Co-Chair include selecting the conference theme, planning and providing feedback on meeting sessions, and reviewing poster abstract submissions.

As Associate Director for the Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics program at WestEd, Davenport leads large-scale grants focused on transforming science and math instruction and assessment to improve student learning.

Davenport’s content expertise and the leadership in the field will greatly enhance the conference planning process, according to Thomas Brock, Commissioner, National Center for Education Research. As Brock states, “This is an opportunity to shape the IES Principal Investigators Meeting in ways that will benefit the larger education and special education research community.”

Says Davenport, “I look forward to working with my Co-Chairs, IES, and the Manhattan Strategy Group to plan a productive and interactive meeting.”
