The Nevada Governor’s Task Force on School Safety recently released its final report, presenting recommendations for strategies that can be implemented to help improve safety in Nevada schools.

Anthony Petrosino, Director of WestEd’s Justice & Prevention Research Center, served as a non-voting expert on the Task Force, which Governor Brian Sandoval established earlier this year in response to recent incidents of school shootings.

“School safety is one of the highest priorities for my administration,” Governor Sandoval stated in a March 29th press release. “I am very pleased by the caliber of individuals who have agreed to serve our state on this Task Force.”

WestEd’s participation is supported by the West Comprehensive Center, one of the regional technical assistance centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education to provide support to state education agencies.

“It was an honor to assist the Task Force in their efforts to put together a comprehensive list of recommendations for school safety to the Governor,” says Petrosino.
