As California educators enact the instructional shifts called for by the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards, formative assessment has reemerged as a key practice for moving students toward college and career readiness.

This upcoming workshop* will teach educators how to embed formative assessment into the classroom and the curriculum, and teach administrators and district leaders how to embed formative assessment into the culture of schools.

Edys Quellmalz, Matt Silberglitt, and Cathy Carroll—all from WestEd’s Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) program—will be among the presenters and facilitators at this workshop sponsored by Policy Analysis for California Education. The workshop will be held Tuesday, January 13, in Oakland, CA.
