Spanish Language Experiencing Cultural Renaissance Among Hispanics

Across the country, there has been a surging interest in dual language programs in schools—programs in which students can learn both English and Spanish.
Slate.com quotes WestEd’s Robert Linquanti, who says the surging interest in dual language schools has, somewhat coincidentally, contributed to a “linguistic recuperation for Hispanic families,” who are now more valued for their knowledge of Spanish than in prior generations.
Linquanti is the Project Director for WestEd’s English Language Learner Evaluation and Accountability Support project.
