Joseph Sassone, Director of Development, School and District Services at WestEd’s Comprehensive School Assistance Program, will lead a skill-building session at the New York State Council of School Superintendents’ (NYSCOSS) 2018 Winter Institute and Lobby Day.

Sponsored by NYSCOSS and the Leadership for Educational Achievement Foundation (LEAF), Inc., the annual Institute and Lobby Day provides professional development and networking opportunities for New York superintendents. The event will be held on March 4-5 at the Albany Capital Center in Albany, New York.

Sassone’s interactive group discussion will focus on the evidence-based Four Domains for Rapid School Improvement: A Systems Framework. Developed by the Center on School Turnaround at WestEd, the framework is designed to assist state and district leaders and school administrators in leading and managing rapid and system-wide school transformation efforts. During the session, participants will explore:

  • The critical practices of successful school transformation in four domains: turnaround leadership, talent development, instructional transformation, and culture shift
  • Case studies demonstrating how the practices have been implemented at district and school levels
  • Specific steps superintendents can take to accelerate transformation

The session will be held on Monday, March 5, 11am-12pm, in the Dewitt Ballroom, Albany Renaissance.
