This year’s Strengthening Student Success Conference theme of “Caring, Commitment, Community” will explore critical issues and practical, evidence-based examples that shape student success in California community colleges. The conference provides a forum for community college professionals to explore strategies that improve institutional effectiveness, advance student learning, and increase equitable outcomes.

Breakout session: Collaborative Learning Structures and Socio-Emotional Interventions in a New Virtual Mathematics Learning Experience

This Carnegie Math Pathways breakout session will provide participants with an opportunity to experience and interact with instructional approaches that promote student belonging and persistence in fully online developmental mathematics courses.
Participants will learn about:
- Synchronous collaborative course components and technical structures to support student learning
- Key aspects of students’ online behavior and engagement that can inform instructional interventions
- A digital learning model that operationalizes real collaborative learning through applied student behavioral data and instructor feedback
Who Should Attend?
- California community college professionals, including faculty, deans, program directors, student services staff, professional development and SLO leadership, researchers and planners
