Join REL West and rural Grand County School District staff for a free, 60-minute webinar on using evidence to strengthen professional learning communities (PLCs) around math instruction.
This webinar will provide support to educators in their use of data and evidence in PLCs to improve math instruction in grades K–5.
The webinar will discuss the development of a simple, data-driven process to support teacher PLCs in using local data sources to identify student needs in mathematics and to drive instructional improvement cycles.
The webinar will feature Dr. Stacy Marple, Senior Research Associate, REL West and Kendra Cupps, Instructional Coach and Director of Technology, Grand County School District in Utah.
There is no cost to attend.
As a result of participating in this webinar, participants will:
- Learn how to build a local culture of data use geared toward strengthening math instruction.
- Learn a process to develop and test continuous improvement protocols for grade-level professional learning communities for using data to improve math instruction.
Who should attend: District and school site leaders, administrators, professional learning community leaders and instructional coaches who are responsible for supporting data-informed instructional improvement.
Dr. Stacy Marple applies mixed methods in order to study variations in classroom instruction and the application of curricular materials. She has experience teaching in a wide variety of settings, and currently supports varied groups of practitioners to help them understand and apply evidence-based practices to advance learning among teachers and students. She holds a PhD in Language, Literacy and Culture from the University of California, Berkeley.
Kendra Cupps works as the Director of Technology and Instructional Coach at Grand County School District in Moab, Utah. She is a former classroom teacher and focuses on integrating technology into instruction so that students learn in a way that is relevant and engaging. As an instructional coach, she uses her experience with curriculum development and literacy instruction to assist teachers and students.
