Overview
Lewis H. Hosie is an instructional design and learning technology expert with over a decade of experience designing, developing, and implementing innovative mathematics learning solutions across higher education and adult learning. As a senior research associate with the Mathematics team, Hosie leads multifaceted projects that integrate pedagogical design, innovative technological infrastructure, and contextualized instructional content to meet the evolving needs of educators and learners.
At WestEd, Hosie codirects the Carnegie Math Pathways initiative, overseeing content and course design, technical infrastructure, and implementation strategy across national and international partnerships. He also serves as the curriculum and technical lead for the Adult Numeracy in the Digital Era (ANDE) project, for which he designed the instructional model and directed the development of technology-enhanced mathematics course materials. Across both initiatives, he oversees the digital and print learning products, manages technology integrations with institutional systems, and builds internal and external capacity through faculty training, technical consultations, and instructional guidance. His leadership in product life cycle management and technology-enhanced instructional design has strengthened instruction for hundreds of mathematics faculty and improved learning outcomes for thousands of students across the country.
Prior to joining WestEd, Hosie worked in education publishing and curriculum design internationally, serving as a senior English language instructor and academic coordinator, copy editor, and content developer. He brings a unique background-informed and systems-level perspective to learning, instruction, and implementation design and is committed to leveraging technology, evidence-backed instructional design, and inclusive practices to expand access to and the impact of high-quality mathematics education.
