WestEd is committed to accessibility, usability, and inclusivity. We strive to create and maintain accessible websites, multimedia, documents, and experiences for people with disabilities. We are continually striving to improve the user experience by applying relevant best practice accessibility standards to our work.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 informs the development of WestEd’s digital products and experiences. The WCAG defines requirements for designers, content developers, and digital media producers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user-friendly for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. WestEd aims to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA for all of our digital products and experiences.
Despite our best efforts to apply accessibility best practices, there may be some limitations or inaccessible content. WestEd.org is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not fully conform to this accessibility standard.
WestEd uses Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPAT™) to list details about the compliance status with WCAG guidelines of some of our websites. While WestEd does not maintain a VPAT for all WestEd built websites, we do maintain VPATs for select websites, including WestEd.org. Please feel free to request a copy.
WestEd welcomes comments and suggestions on how to improve accessibility for users with disabilities. While it is not always possible to implement every suggestion or request, please let us know if you encounter accessibility barriers on any of WestEd’s digital products or experiences. We will respond to your feedback within five business days.
