Overview
Allison Davey brings over 20 years of experience in special education at both the state and district levels. As a Senior Program Associate with the Special Education Policy and Practice team, she empowers states to navigate complex IDEA fiscal data. Her expertise lies in enhancing the capacity of state agencies to effectively collect, report, analyze, and utilize the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) fiscal data. This strategic approach is essential for driving informed decision-making and addressing the diverse needs of infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support early intervention and special education initiatives.
In her role, Davey works with the Center for IDEA Fiscal Reporting and the National Center for Systemic Improvement’s Fiscal Support Team. She provides individualized technical assistance tailored to the unique challenges faced by different states. Additionally, she supports the development of resources and tools that facilitate the understanding and implementation of IDEA fiscal requirements. This hands-on approach not only aids in immediate problem-solving but also fosters long-term improvements in fiscal management practices within state systems.
Before joining WestEd, Davey served as the Senior Director of Strategic Supports in the Division of Special Populations at the Tennessee Department of Education. This previous experience enables her to effectively bridge the gap between IDEA fiscal requirements and the state-level implementation practices to ensure that all children receive the support they need to be successful.
