Anthony Mukuna is a Senior Project Director of School Finance at WestEd. In his current capacity, he leads WestEd’s Credit Enhancement project of the U.S. Department of Education Charter School Program (CSP) with the responsibility to oversee project management, manage multiple monitoring teams, and review all related resources and project deliverables. Additionally, Mukuna oversees fiscal engagements with several state educational agencies, supports cross-area projects within WestEd, and leads the fiscal support team of the National Center for Systemic Improvement (NCSI).
His contribution to state-level engagements at WestEd resulted in the development and implementation of strong fiscal accountability practices compliant with federal/state/local laws, regulations, and policies at the SEA and LEA levels.
Mukuna has a strong background in accounting with over a decade of work experience with local and state government, where he had the opportunity to manage diverse federal and state funding programs. Mukuna worked for the Idaho Supreme Court Finance Office and the Idaho State Department of Education, before joining WestEd, where he created a very strong fiscal accountability structure. This combination helped him develop skills to analyze and interpret laws and regulations for the design and implementation of compliant, effective, and efficient fiscal policies and procedures to improve program outcomes.
Mukuna has a BBA in accounting and earned his master’s degree in business administration (MBA) at Idaho State University. Anthony is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the state of Idaho.
