Teresa L. Alonzo serves as the Associate Director of School Networks, Educational Leadership, and System Design. Alonzo partners with school and district leadership teams to facilitate learning networks designed to build instructional leadership capacity, promote high-quality teaching and learning, and advance equity across their system. She works collaboratively with executive leaders to develop capacity and build strong teams across their organizations.
Prior to joining WestEd, Teresa served as an instructional coach, elementary and intermediate school principal, and Administrative Services Director for the Montebello Unified School District (MUSD). She worked as the Assistant Director with the California Reading and Literature Project, Reading RESULTS initiative where she worked with schools across California to promote district-wide literacy improvement efforts. Alonzo began her career as a Dual Language teacher and coordinator for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Alonzo is the Director of Mentoring for the California Latino Superintendents and Administrators and has worked as an institute facilitator for the Association of California Superintendents and Administrators academies.
She holds a B.S. from UC Davis, an M.A.Ed. from CSU Los Angeles, and an Ed.D. from the University of Southern California.
