CEITAN offers broad and diverse early intervention and early mental health technical assistance and consulting for national, state, and local organizations and entities serving children with disabilities and special needs.
Through CEITAN, CPEI facilitates the implementation of an Early Start statewide Comprehensive System for Professional Development, required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part C, that, among other activities, mandates:
- Training and development of personnel to provide early intervention services
- Development of policies and procedures to establish and maintain qualification standards to ensure a cadre of professionally trained early interventionists
- Development and execution of a public awareness program for parents and professionals focused on early identification of infants and toddlers with or at risk for disabilities
- Collaboration with state and partner agencies and other stakeholders to promote the leveraging of state efforts in early childhood health and development programs and services
CEITAN is funded by the California Department of Developmental Services.
