Expanding Science Learning Opportunities During Out-of-School Time
Find out how after-school programs are building partnerships and focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
In this webinar, you will learn about California’s research findings, lessons learned, and promising practices, based on the impact STEM and out-of-school time has demonstrated. This includes lessons learned from the 217 Jumpstart sites, and promising practices all sites could apply in implementing STEM.
There are 4,000 after-school programs operating in California serving children in grades K-8. This additional time adds the equivalent of 77 additional instructional days for students.
This webinar is designed for schools, districts, states, policymakers, community-based organizations, and institutes of higher education.
This webinar was hosted in partnership with the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning (CFTL) at WestEd and California State University. It builds off two recent reports: Untapped Potential: The Status of Middle School Science Education in California and High Hopes—Few Opportunities: The Status of Elementary Science Education in California, produced by CFTL with funding from the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation.
