With over two decades of experience in education policy and administration, Kelsey Krausen is dedicated to supporting continuous improvement across all levels of the nation’s education system and ensuring that resources are strategically and equitably allocated to meet student needs. In her role as a Senior Engagement Manager, Krausen helps manage a range of policy development, technical assistance, and research projects at the state and local levels. Her areas of expertise include accountability systems, education finance, and systems improvement.
Krausen has worked on a range of research projects, including early implementation of California’s Statewide System of Support, research on North Carolina’s school finance system, and an investigation of continuous improvement practices in California school districts. Krausen has also led the school finance research that brought to light the “Silent Recession,” a nationwide phenomenon in which, even with increasing levels of school funding, school districts face financial pressures that threaten to destabilize their budgets and force reductions in student services.
Krausen has a PhD in school organization and educational policy from the University of California, Davis; an MA in public administration from San Francisco State University; and a BA in literature from the University of California, San Diego.
