Advancing Leadership Practices to Transform Schools and Improve Outcomes
Guided by the Four Domains for Rapid School Improvement, our Transformational Leadership Coaching service supports school leaders with training, reflection, analysis, and action planning to strengthen turnaround leadership and rapidly improve student learning and achievement.
Our team utilizes data from the valid, reliable Four Domains Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership for Learning (CALL) to evaluate current practices research shows are linked to effective and rapid school improvement. As systems are built, introduced, supported, and monitored with continuous feedback provided, school leaders can sustainably improve student outcomes.
Our Work in Action
Comprehensive Support and Improvement for Delaware Department of Education
From 2018 through 2020, WestEd engaged with a cohort of schools in Delaware that were identified as needing Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI).
Our partnership with the Delaware Department of Education included:
- Needs assessment development
- School improvement planning support
- On-site monitoring of school improvement plans
- Facilitation of leadership network sessions
- Turnaround leadership coaching for principals
WestEd administered the Four Domains CALL surveys and used the resulting data as a foundation for planning and implementing leadership actions to support school improvement. We assessed data from seven schools that completed the survey twice.
Our impact: Six of the schools within this cohort improved in all sub-domains and an additional school showed improvement in 9 of 12 Four Domains CALL sub-domains.
