Regional Comprehensive Centers

Note: The U.S. Department of Education has cancelled the contract for these centers, so WestEd is no longer conducting the work described on this page. We believe, however, that the information and resources generated prior to the cancellation of this contract continue to be relevant and helpful to the education community and we will continue to make them available.

WestEd leads the Bureau of Indian Education Comprehensive Center (BIE CC), which provides technical assistance and capacity-building services to the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) and the schools it serves to improve educational outcomes for all students, close achievement gaps, and improve the quality of instruction.

BIE CC collaborates with the BIE to identify, implement, and sustain effective evidence-based practices that support improved educator and student outcomes. Federally funded, no-cost services provided by BIE CC include:

  • needs-sensing to determine priority areas;
  • identification of evidence-based practices to help address needs;
  • planning to integrate evidence-based practices into agency policies, procedures, and programs; and
  • support to implement and sustain new practices.

WestEd is also pleased to serve as the supportive partner to Westat’s Southwest Comprehensive Center, which serves state educational agencies and their constituents in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
