Literacy Program Specialist, Senior Program Specialist

Overview

In her current role, Ross leads professional learning through the Reading Apprenticeship framework, significantly influencing literacy practices in middle and high schools across the country. Her projects include the Reading Apprenticeship EIR North Carolina grant, which aims to facilitate measurable improvements in teachers’ classroom practices and students’ academic performance.

Currently, Ross is on the WestEd team developing and delivering professional learning and coaching for Reading Apprenticeship for Academic Literacy Learning.

Prior to joining WestEd, Ross served as a social studies teacher and Reading Apprenticeship Teacher Leader at Blue Ridge High School. She began facilitating Reading Apprenticeship professional learning in 2012 while still in the classroom. Her extensive teaching background and curriculum development experience for blended learning platforms underscores her expertise in creating engaging, effective learning environments. Ross also developed the Analytical Reading Activities and a Summer Institute professional learning module for AP U.S. Government and Politics for the College Board, providing valuable resources to support both students and teachers. Ross is driven by a belief in continuous professional growth and the transformative potential of literacy education to foster student success and educational accessibility.
