Partnering with clients to design and implement evaluations that provide valid and actionable findings for decision-makers

WestEd offers an array of Evaluation Services ranging from case studies to cost analyses to randomized controlled trials, all shaped by engaged partnership and input from WestEd content experts. We support clients with rigorous and responsive research methods that provide valid and reliable evidence about programs in education, justice, the workforce, and public health.

How We Help

WestEd’s Evaluation Services provide tailored evaluations aligned with client needs and goals. This involves framing appropriate questions and developing and applying the most relevant, rigorous, and efficient qualitative and quantitative research methods that yield accurate and useful information and actionable lessons. WestEd emphasizes flexibility and responsiveness to changing environments and uses a variety of data collection methods, including surveys, interviews, and observations. Our evaluations study the feasibility, implementation, impact, and cost-effectiveness of programs and policies.

A key element of WestEd’s approach is ensuring that findings are understandable, are actionable, and reach the intended audiences. We focus on building evaluation capacity, ensuring data privacy and security, and respecting geographic and cultural contexts. WestEd’s approach is system informed, aiming to connect local findings to broader implications for improved decision-making. Ultimately, our evaluations help clients make informed decisions about program continuation, suitability, and potential improvements.

“For the last five years, WestEd has been evaluating my organization’s healthy relationships program for justice-involved youth. WestEd helped us document the positive impact we’ve had on youth, improve our program, and secure additional funding to run our program.”
