The State Strategy Lab provides timely information, resources, and coaching to help state education leaders and relevant state partners anticipate and respond to pressing challenges in education.
How We Help
Our teams work collaboratively with state leaders during cross-state learning sessions in the State teams join WestEd experts and peers in a strategic leadership and professional learning series that is typically divided into six parts over a 3-month period. This series consists of three Cross-State Learning Sessions (60 minutes each) followed by three Customized Coaching Sessions (75 minutes each). Throughout the series, you will examine and deconstruct specific challenges, such as understanding and responding to new funding models or strengthening expertise related to assessment and accountability.
Our Cross-State Learning Sessions provide timely content from WestEd experts—many of whom have previously served in state education agency (SEA) roles—and an opportunity to collaborate with a cohort of state leaders on solving pressing problems of practice. Our featured State Strategy experts will identify tailored support and draw on broader expertise from WestEd staff who offer a range of services, including research and evaluation, professional learning, technical assistance, and policy guidance.
Following each Learning Session, each team receives a Customized Coaching Session that supports state teams to make progress on relevant priorities, challenges, and goals.
