California charter schools are unique. Far too often, technical assistance does not meet the unique needs of charter schools. WestEd is excited to be part of the Statewide Technical Assistance for Charter Schools (STACS) to offer California charter schools targeted, tailored training related to special education to support their continuous improvement.
Purpose
Through the CA STACS, WestEd will offer California charters a series of free professional development webinars related to special education over the next 3 years (2025–2028). Targeted webinars will cover a range of topics, including, but not limited to, meeting California-specific compliance requirements for serving students with disabilities, creating student-centered IEPs, and designing a continuum of services in charter schools. In addition, leaders will have the opportunity to participate in Continuous Learning Networks where they will work with other charter leaders across the state to hear best practices, problem-solve with peers, and collaborate to find solutions to bring back to their school teams.
STACS subgrants’ purpose is to provide technical assistance to schools on best practices for increasing academic achievement in the following topic areas: English Learners, Special Education, Students at a Socioeconomical Disadvantage Students, Career & Technical Education, and Innovative Strategies.
