WestEd Presentation

Curriculum Revision as Praxis
Presenters: Jenell Krishnan, WestEd; Paloma Aranda, Christine Duncan Charter School
Location: Room 109-B, Pennsylvania Convention Center
Time: 3:30–4 p.m.

This session explores how a yearlong pilot of the Reading Apprenticeship Academic Literacy (RAAL) curriculum became a model for teacher-led improvement, using an inquiry cycle of implementation, reflection, and real-time revision drawn from student think-alouds, teacher logs, and focus group data. Participants will leave with the ability to define a curriculum as a dynamic process, design a focal-student inquiry plan to gather qualitative data, analyze teacher and student feedback to identify what needs revising, and run a structured revision cycle that honors teacher expertise and student agency.
