Martha Palacios, PhD, is an experienced researcher, evaluator, and provider of technical assistance to states and local education agencies. As a Senior Program Associate with English Learner and Migrant Education Services, she leverages her knowledge of effective instruction for Multilingual Learners to improve educational programs and systems for all students.  

Christine Patterson

Christine Paterson, Program Associate II, English Learners and Migrant Education Services, WestEd 
Christine Paterson is a Program Associate for the English Learners and Migrant Education Services (ELMES) program and has worked in education for over 15 years. She specializes in designing and facilitating both in-person and virtual professional learning experiences for teachers. Her work focuses on helping teachers create powerful learning opportunities, specifically for Multilingual Learners. She is dedicated to helping educators develop their skills to effectively support all students with rigorous and future-oriented teaching methods. 

José Solís

José Solís, East Side Union High School District, Associate Principal of Tiered Students Supports 
José Solís is an East Side San José educator and lifelong English learner. He arrived in San José in his teen years, attended James Lick High School, and eventually graduated from San José State University. Since earning his teaching credential, Solís has taught in East Side San José, in the same community he was raised in and in the same district he is a product of. Solís has taught English, Spanish, and ELD. He has spent his professional career serving English language learner students. He has also served as an ELD department chair, Long-Term EL Mentor, EL Teacher on Special Assignment, and ELD subject area coordinator. Currently, Solís is the Associate Principal for Tiered Systems of Support at Silver Creek High School, East Side Union High School District.
