(Past Event) Reading Apprenticeship in College Writing Online Summer Course

Professional Learning Literacy

Use the Reading Apprenticeship framework in college writing courses

Dates: June 12–August 4, 2023

In this course, participants use the Reading Apprenticeship framework and routines to consider threshold concepts in the field of writing studies while historicizing the field to understand our place in a larger, well researched, and resourced context. Participants also explore high impact models from various contexts and begin to form a supportive “improvement community” to better be able to serve students.

The course is a facilitated asynchronous learning experience that increases your understanding of Reading Apprenticeship and emphasizes metacognitive conversation and the integration of reading and writing instruction.

Course activities include professional reading, viewing classroom video, and contributing to online discussions. The approximate amount of time you will need to devote to the course is an average of 6-7 hours per week.

This course is a Phase 2 Reading Apprenticeship professional learning opportunity and is equivalent to other Phase 2 courses and seminars.
