Sara Martinez is a Senior Research Associate and Family Engagement Facilitator with Academic Parent-Teacher Teams (APTT). Martinez provides training, technical assistance, and coaching focused on building the capacity of schools and districts to effectively engage families and communities as knowledgeable members of the academic team.
Martinez designs and implements professional development and provides site-based coaching to state education agencies, districts, and school teams in family and community engagement. As a project lead for the APTT, Martinez provides technical assistance to states, districts, and schools implementing APTT.
Before joining WestEd, Martinez was a bilingual teacher and English Language Learner Specialist; her peers voted her Teacher of the Year in 2001. Martinez holds an MEd from Pepperdine University and a BA in liberal studies from California State University, Long Beach.
