This resource presents combined case studies of three schools participating in the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s Community Schools Initiative (LACOE CSI). The brief explores how community schools, shaped by the unique strengths, needs, and contexts of their communities, implement promising practices at different stages of development.

Through examples aligned with the California Community Schools Framework, the case studies highlight approaches to building and maximizing integrated community schools teams, developing schools as community hubs through connection, care, and creativity, and leveraging student and family interest to strengthen engagement. Together, the case studies provide concrete illustrations of how schools apply the Framework through integrated support systems, collaborative leadership, authentic family and community engagement, and responsive programming grounded in local needs.
