The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)—part of the California School Climate, Health, and Learning System—captures rich data on student experiences that community schools can use to understand and address the full range of student needs. This resource identifies 10 CHKS indicators that align directly with the California Community Schools Framework, including its Four Pillars, Four Key Conditions for Learning, and Four Cornerstone Commitments.

For each indicator, the resource explains what it measures and how it connects to core community school goals, from school connectedness and caring relationships to academic motivation and student well-being. Together, the indicators offer community schools a practical, data-grounded way to monitor progress across their implementation efforts.
