California charter schools are unique. Far too often, technical assistance does not meet the unique needs of charter schools. WestEd is working with the California Department of Education to provide targeted, tailored training related to special education to support continuous improvement for California charter schools.
In this archived webinar, WestEd experts walk through the compliance requirements that all California charter schools are held accountable for, and connect with other charter school leaders across the state to learn how to strengthen practices that serve students with disabilities in your school.
Learn about California-specific compliance requirements for serving students with disabilities in charter schools, including the IDEA, Section 504, California Education Code, SELPA participation, and CDE monitoring expectations. The session is geared toward new special education staff, but it can be used as a refresher course for charter school and special education leaders.
- The Statewide Technical Assistance for Charter Schools (STACS) subgrant’s purpose is to provide technical assistance to schools on best practices for increasing academic achievement in the following topic areas: English Learners, Special Education, Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Students, Career & Technical Education, and Innovative Strategies.
- STACS is a subgrant program funded by the California Department of Education’s federal Charter Schools Grant Program: https://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/ch/pcsgp.asp.
