Narrator:
As WestEd commemorates 60 years of supporting thriving learners and empowered communities, we asked our staff and board members to reflect on our history and look ahead to our future. What differentiates WestEd from other organizations working to improve education and support human development?
Shireen Parvi, Board Member, WestEd Board of Directors | Assistant Vice Chancellor, California State University Educator and Leadership Program:
I believe the reason that WestEd is a premier education support organization, with a footprint in almost every state in the nation, is because of its people. As a member of the WestEd Board of Directors, I’ve had the opportunity to get to learn about their work from many of the WestEd staff. The team at WestEd is made up of stellar scholars with deep content mastery, educational visionaries who transform systems, and committed leaders who are passionate about the well-being of all learners. I’ve been extremely impressed by the talent that WestEd draws and then nurtures, and also the networks that the organization has built over the years to facilitate their work in the field.
