WestEd Presents at the 23rd Annual Florida Charter School Conference


WestEd’s Robin Chait and Cerelle Morrow will present at the 23rd Annual Florida Charter School Conference held on October 29 through October 31 at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, Florida.

This year’s conference theme, “High Expectations for Every Student, Every Day,” aims to help charter schools further develop to ensure continuous success, and to promote high-quality options for all students.

School leaders, finance officers, governing board members, and charter school authorizers will benefit from capacity-building presentations and breakout sessions.

WestEd-led Workshops and Breakout Sessions:

VITAL Collaboration: Visibly Improving Teaching and Learning Through Professional Collaboration

This workshop offers educators productive and efficient ways to use professional learning communities (PLCs) as a vehicle to improve teaching and learning schoolwide. Participants will learn how PLCs can engage educators in formative feedback on all phases of teaching, including planning, implementation, and analysis of student work.

Achieving High Expectations Through District-Charter Collaboration

When traditional public schools and charter schools collaborate effectively, students in both sectors benefit. This presentation will:

  • Provide a framework for guiding cross-sector collaboration
  • Discuss how the New York City Department of Education is encouraging collaboration and shared learning across sectors
  • Describe two successful programs in New York City
