Arizona Structured Literacy for Success

Join teachers throughout Arizona who are working to boost learning opportunities for all students. 

WestEd and partners at the Helios Education Foundation and the Arizona K12 Center are pleased to announce evidence-based, rigorous, and no-cost professional learning for Arizona K–5 teachers to strengthen reading instruction and support for all learners, including English Learners and students with reading difficulties. 

The 12-week Structured Literacy for Success professional learning program offers teachers two comprehensive courses in structured literacy. All training, coaching, and materials are fully funded and meet Arizona’s K–5 Literacy Endorsement education requirements. 

Each course combines weekly 1-hour live virtual sessions with peers, flexible online activities, practice assignments with instructor feedback, and individualized coaching support. Teachers will learn proven approaches to building capacity in evidence-based structured literacy practices grounded in the science of reading.  

Course Options: 

  • Course A: Structured Literacy for All Learners—Phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and differentiated instruction 
  • Course B: Structured Literacy for Learners With Reading Difficulties—Evidence-based interventions; progress monitoring; data-driven decision-making; and supports for students with reading disabilities, including dyslexia 

Dates: 

  • Cohort 2 begins September 2026. Applications are due by May 1. 
  • Cohort 3 begins September 2027. 

Arizona educators are invited to complete an interest form to apply for the program.
