Enhancing Collaborative Learning Experiences

Strengthening learner-centered, technology-enabled teaching and learning grounded in research

WestEd takes a holistic approach to the role of technology in education—viewing tech as a tool instead of a one-size-fits-all solution. Our team of experts studies, evaluates, and develops educational programs and innovations across content domains and leads technology-focused professional learning and technical assistance centered on learners and educators.

We apply cutting-edge research about how children and adults learn to support educators and improve educational outcomes using technology. Using an integrated approach, we collaborate with our partners to develop high-quality recommendations, deliver action plans, and build evidence bases.

Our Capacities

Our team partners with EdTech companies by leveraging expertise in learning science, the classroom context, and product development to evaluate and develop practical, high-quality technology tools that advance learning.

We offer a range of services—including competitive analysis, market research, feasibility studies, and randomized controlled trials—to build evidence and provide insights to improve technology tools.

An Efficacy Study of My Math Academy

WestEd is conducting an efficacy study of My Math Academy, a widely used math technology program developed by Age of Learning, Inc. My Math Academy uses games to engage students while providing opportunities to personalize content, support learning in context, and measure learning. The study aims to better understand the effects of using the program for kindergarten students.

We help educators, leaders, and organizations improve tech-enabled education that boosts learning, engagement, communication, and collaboration. Grounded in the science of adult learning and decades of field experience, our team designs professional development, collaboration opportunities, and system-level strategies that strengthen expertise and promote success for all learners and communities.
