Jazmin Cruz is a Research Assistant in Literacy. She brings her classroom experience and knowledge of research together to attain a better understanding of the challenges that teachers and students face in a traditional classroom. Cruz’s research interests are far-ranging, from secondary-level writing and literacy instruction in math, history, and science to supporting culturally and linguistically diverse learners.
Prior to joining WestEd, Cruz supported the National Writing Research to Improve Teaching and Evaluation (WRITE) Center as a Research Assistant at the University of California, Irvine. She led undergraduate student research teams and developed data protocols for the Using College Level Argumentation to Improve Multiple Source writing (UCLAIMS) program for history/social science teachers.
Cruz received her B.A. from the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine. There, she received fellowships for three different undergraduate research studies from the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP).
