Dr. Sarah Johns’s work at WestEd includes evaluations of the Inclusive Early Care and Education Expansion Program funded through the California Department of Education and the Fresno Cradle-to-Career portfolio of investments designed to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in maternal and child health outcomes, early care and education access, and family economic well-being.
Prior to joining WestEd, Dr. Johns conducted research and evaluations of publicly-funded early childhood programs for First Things First, the Arizona Early Childhood Health and Development Board. Her evaluation expertise includes Quality Rating and Improvement Systems, early childhood professional development, early childhood workforce registries, home visitation, and parenting education.
Dr. Johns holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Arizona State University, with research expertise in longitudinal analysis, children’s social-emotional development, socialization of prosociality and social skills, and early care and education classroom quality.
