From Our CEO, Janelle Kubinec
This past October, I had the honor of taking over as WestEd’s CEO. In my 12 years at WestEd, our agency has continually grown and evolved to address pressing challenges in education and human development, and this year is no exception. At the center of WestEd’s progress is the agency’s most valuable resource—our people. In meeting with a wide range of staff in my first few months in this new role, I’ve been inspired and energized by their profound commitment to achieving our agency’s mission. At any given time, our community of talented and dedicated staff may be collaborating with teachers to hone instructional practice, researching the impact of an innovative new curriculum, developing state-level policies to enhance workforce development, and more.
While cataloging all the high-impact work that WestEd staff have carried out in 2023 would be impossible, this Year in Review webpage offers highlights of our efforts to advance equity, support learning acceleration, and promote a whole-person approach to education and development.
Pausing to reflect on accomplishments we’ve achieved in collaboration with our funders, partners, and others is important and provides us with a launching point for future work in service of our mission.
