Elham Zargar (she/her) is a Research Associate in Mathematics at WestEd. She is currently working on multiple evaluation projects focused on mathematics education and educational technology programs, by leading and supporting research administration, data collection, and data analysis.
Elham is experienced in various qualitative and quantitative research methods and is skilled in different data analysis methods, such as analysis of variance, multiple linear regression, and hierarchical linear modeling. She has co-authored multiple research articles published in journals, such as Reading and Writing, Computers and Education, and Journal of Educational Psychology.
Prior to joining WestEd, Elham worked on creating a web-based observation tool to measure the amount and type of instruction individual students receive in their classrooms and evaluating its predictive validity. She additionally investigated the cognitive and metacognitive processes underlying reading comprehension in elementary school-aged students (using paper assessments and eye-movement analysis) and evaluated the effectiveness of an e-book on students’ reading comprehension skills.
Elham holds a BS in cognitive science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a PhD in education with a specialization in learning, teaching, cognition, and development from the University of California, Irvine.
