Jonathan Boxerman is a Science Education Research Associate for WestEd’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) team and works in our Alameda office. He has over 15 years of experience planning and carrying out qualitative research across a variety of informal and formal learning environments. Dr. Boxerman has been co-PI on several NSF-funded projects and brings expertise in culturally relevant STEM assessment design and development.
Dr. Boxerman holds an MA in Geology from San Francisco State University and a PhD in Learning Sciences from Northwestern University. His dissertation was about how teachers and students learn through outdoor science field trips. He has taught middle school Earth sciences as well as undergraduate social sciences research methods courses.
