California's Graduation Rate: The Hidden Crisis
Description
At a time when postsecondary education is becoming the new basic for finding a job and leading a satisfying life, large numbers of the state’s young people are not finishing high school. Disproportionately, the non-graduates are Latino and African American students.
This brief illustrates the trend in California’s graduation rate. It examines the methodological debate, provides comparisons between California and other states, and shows California results by race and ethnicity (including data from several of the state’s large school districts).
